  7. If you only want it for filmaking I´ll suggest a camcorder until you can upgrade to a DSLR.

  8. I want to get this camera for creating short films. I can't spend too much money so this is one of the cheapest I've found.
Is it any good for making short films? (audio quality? I hear it's really bad o.o)

  9. I own the elph 300 and I believe it takes the same NB 4-L battery which for me, (again just taking alot of videos) lasts approx 50 minutes. The only real issue I have with my camera though is when you take a picture of someone with a bright background, the auto flash will not fix this problem so it rarely, if ever goes off.

  12. I don't really care for the 420 screen resolution, having 3x more zoom (although that would be nice), slightly bigger screen and the 1cm macro, if the 310 hs is below the 300 hs in terms of quality for the final product (better pics and video), if that is the case I would prefer to stay with the 300.. anyone with any info on that?

  13. I had a 300 HS and it got stolen recently, I was about to buy another one but I found about the 310, but watching this video left me thinking if it would be worth it to have 3x more zoom over the low light sensitivity sacrifice, I really liked how the 300 hs performed at low light.. and correct me if im wrong, but at that other street night test video the sound seems a bit worse than the 300 hs sound quality, am I right? Should I go for another 300 hs?

  18. @jon4lakers or anyone that has this camera Would you say this camera is for the average person with no tech-iness and can it take abuse--leaving in a car?
I'm in the market for a a simple point and shoot that takes great video and photos. The person I'm buying for is a simple person who likes a one button-click-I-took-the-photo type of camera. I really like the price and specs of the PowerShot ELPH 310 HS and it seems to fit the bill. (I'm even thinking of getting myself one). Thanks, Ane

  23. This would not be my first choice for recording concerts. I would want something with an external mic. But this one could word OK depending on how close it is to the audio source and how big the venue is. In a big arena with lots of noise and echo--it would suck. But in a smaller concert hall, home or church, maybe it could work OK. You will want to put it on a tripod to avoid getting any noise from holding the camera. Or just be really careful not to move your fingers on the camera.

  24. It's a function of the mic being so close to the lens mechanism. It's a built-in flaw that all digital cameras have. If you don't use the zoom while shooting video it will help cut down on the noise. My camera is always in P mode. I don't know if this might make a difference, too.

  25. hey wait a minute, i wanted to ask something about our camera...
when I record video in auto mode, the lens is continuously makes noise perhaps due to scene adjustment,.. thats okay but the problem is if a make video where surrounding is silent, and when I play back the video,... mic captures that noise also which is very notice able and disturbing...
is this some fault in my camera only or can u check this in yours whether your one makes that noise or not
