What is a good quality point and shoot Camera?

Question by Nathan: What is a good quality point and shoot Camera?
Im leaving for peru on june 7th and i want a good quality point and shoot camera that can fit in my pocket. Also, is there a certain brand you would suggest? thanks.

    It's hard to make a suggestion without knowing what your price range is exactly. However , Personally I have a panasonic tz5 which does allow you to zoom while recording and which you can find for around $ 275 on amazon if you hunt around. The latest model in this line the zs3 even has hd-movie capability but it is on the expensive end. The intelligent auto mode works very well and the Lumix line is known for its nice lens with this sporting 10x optical wide angle lens. It's a bit on the larger end as a result of the high optical zoom but it is still fairly compact easily fitting into a shirt pocket. There are other more compact models in the Lumix line if ultra-compact is what you want. Other excellent brands to consider are Canon ,Nikon and Sony.
