Can I defocus the background when taking picture using the Canon PowerShot SX260 point and shoot camera?

Question by angel: Can I defocus the background when taking picture using the Canon PowerShot SX260 point and shoot camera?
I need some help from the camera expert people. I am confuse what to get from these 2 point and shoot camera. I'm looking for a camera that has built in background defocus and has many options in effect when taking pictures.

1. Canon PowerShot SX260
2. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX20V 18.2 MP

For most point and shoot cameras, setting them to 'portrait mode' will blur the background. You can help further blur the background by zooming in as much as you can, and then backing up to frame your subject.

If the camera has a manual mode, use that and select the largest aperture (the smallest f number) you can.
