What kind of point and shoot camera has a fast shutter response?

Question by Rayne Wolf: What kind of point and shoot camera has a fast shutter response?
Just what the question says. I'm a person that loves to take pictures, but I don't do it because I can't find a camera that has a fast shutter response. Just to be clear, I'm talking about the time between pressing the button to take the picture and when the picture actually takes. I see the perfect opportunity for photos all the time, but then by the time the picture is actually taken, whatever I'm taking a photo of has moved.

I don't want an SLR because I'm not a photographer and it'd really be just a waist of money. I'm looking for digital point and shoot cameras. I'd also like to have the possibility of HD video recording on the camera but my heart isn't set on it.

You're out of luck. No point & shoot is going to give you a fast shutter response. All of them will lag to some degree or another. Even your lower end D-SLR's will lag.
Fujifilm makes some nice Finepix bridge cameras. I like the Nikon P510 myself.

Does anybody make a true point and shoot camera any more?

Question by RED: Does anybody make a true point and shoot camera any more?
My old camera, a Canon A560, is on its last legs and needs to be replaced. This camera was a true point and shoot; you pointed the camera and pushed the button. If you do this with my wife's camera which is newer the picture will be way out of focus; you have to point, push the buttom halfway to allow the camera to focus, and then push the button. I do not consider this point and shoot; this is point, focus, and shoot. With that stated, does any camera company build a true point and shoot camera anymore?

Best answer:

Answer by Dr. Iblis
a lens can never be in focus 100% of the time, hence the waiting for the shot- to get in focus.

why your A560 never did that is beyond me. It seems completely impossible.

unfortunately, I know of no point and shoot camera that will shoot when right when you tell it to (unless you are on manual).

what is your budget?

What is the difference in a Point & Shoot digital camera and a DSLR camera ? What does DSLR mean exactly ?

Question by Ronica_Simone: What is the difference in a Point & Shoot digital camera and a DSLR camera ? What does DSLR mean exactly ?
I want to become a professional photographer but I am just getting started - I have a really nice Point & shoot camera that has tons of great features - I paid around $ 500 for it and it takes amazing photos - Well I have something to do with that as well -ha ha
But everyone tells me now that to be professional I need a DSLR
Is that true ? And what exactly is the differences between DSLR's & Point & Shoots ?
What does DSLR stand for Exactly and why are they sooooo freakin expensive and you still need to buy better lenses for them ?

Where can I find a good DSLR for cheap ? If it exsists -LOL

Answer by tgpdagaz
The point and shoot is really a DSLR made simple so everybody can use it. They have great features and can be used as a everyday camera.

DSLR = Digital Single Lense Reflex. These are usually your more top of the line digital cameras that have interchangeable lenses. They also give you more freedom on adjustable settings. All pro photorgraphers are using DSLR now. They are more expenses because they are usually of a much much higher quality camera
