What to use to clean lens on a point and shoot camera?

Question by Ed: What to use to clean lens on a point and shoot camera?
I have a point and shoot DSC-T100 Sony camera. It was really nice at the time. 8.1 mega pixels.
I have to admit it's a bit abused. I keep it in my pocket at all times for that "just in case moment". Now though because of that it's pretty beat up and the picture isn't so good anymore. I want to at least clean the lens (Since this is Halloween) but what do I use? Alcohol and a Q-tip?
Any ideas?

Thanks!

I use the pre packaged eyeglass cleaner wipes. Used it on a hiking/ camping trip for my LUMIX camera, and it worked like a charm.

The lens was always getting suntan lotion or sand on it. The eyeglass cleaner cleaned the lens without any streaks at all.

  1. Lens cleaning fluid and lens cleaning paper, this lens is not interchangeable.

Blow out the loose sand or grit with canned air or a hand held blower like in camera shop.

It may work but don't rub the Q-tip too hard on the lens or it will cause a scratch in the lens coating. The cotton fiber itself may catch a bit of grit and scratch the glass.

There is always a bit of sand or grit that is in the corner that gets brought to the center when you use a swab, so clean fron the center and move outward.

Also let the alcohol or lens cleaning fluid do the work.

  2. Never use alcohol on lens. Either use a t-shirt or lens tissue paper; better yet, Microfiber cloth that can be bought at Target or Walmart.
