Is there any way to modify a point and shoot camera to fit a removable lens?

I have a Kodak M530 and would like more zoom.
I don't have the money for a fancy camera. So I will have to make do with the one I have.

  1. No, this is a fixed lens camera

  2. Anything is possible with enough time, skill, AND MONEY.

It would be up to your ability to engineer and make the parts needed. I imagine if you were to spend several months and $ 15-$ 20,000, you could rig something that MIGHT work on your Kodak. Would it work good? No. The cameras sensor size in comparison to the rear diameter of the lens would not be correct....but it could still be done though. Look at the people that make boats out of cardboard...they float (for only a couple of minutes, but they float).

  3. It's possible if you have a lathe to make the adaptors and the skill to use it. Is it worth it? Probably not.

  4. The sensor of your point and shoot would be too small to take the image projected by the lens made for SLR or DSLR cameras. So , that negates any other possibility.
