How does a no battery point and shoot camera judge exposure?

Question by hung poo: How does a no battery point and shoot camera judge exposure?
I have like a 5 dollar small point and shoot 35mm film camera and am wondering how it is supose to give around the correct exposure with no internal light meter?

I think it doesn't try to so you can only get good results if you use it in environments with certain lighting conditions.

    it relies on the user using it outside and the latitude of negative film, some shots will be ok some wont

  2. It doesn't. It's meant to take pictures outdoors in sunlight. The film has a fair latitude (tolerance for under and overexposure) so that prints can be corrected somewhat. But you're not going to get National Geographic quality images from it. Forget about using it indoors or in dim light. Cloudy days might even be a challenge.
