What is the best camera for taking great pictures of moving objects/people?

Question by mionemalfoy1203: What is the best camera for taking great pictures of moving objects/people?
I'm looking for a new point and shoot camera and I want one that takes good pictures of people in movement. I dance and at competitions it sucks when all the pictures turn up blurry even with the 'image stabilizer' on.

Also, I want a point and shoot camera that can take video with sound.

Are there really really good digital cameras or advanced cameras that can do both? Can someone tell me a few cameras to look at.

  2. A DSLR is the 'best' for taking pictures of moving objects. I'd recommend the Nikon D40. The thing is, only the expensive DSLR's take video.

  3. I'm afraid it takes more than just a superbly spec'ed camera to do the job.

But here's a tip the next time you shoot a dancer indoors
    - use a flash
    - use a tripod
    - as you're pressing the button...follow the movement of the subject.

And you would find that you would end up with either very creative shots like this
